Confession - I thought this year might be my last year storm chasing. Various reasons but the main ones being - due to vision limitations, I don’t drive (as in not allowed to obtain driver’s license because I don’t meet the minimum vision requirements), so super frustrated missing out on good storms. the other one money - storm chasing while not a luxury ‘vacation’ it’s also not cheap. Then the cherry on top - on my first trip to Tornado Alley we hit not one but two deer in 3 days, totalling two cars. Okay, maybe the universe is trying to tell me something.
But then it all switched. Usually if I get one really good image over the season, it’s a good season. So first was this most beautiful supercell that did not produce a tornado was was gorgeous as it spun across the prairie. Okay, so this is my image for the year.
Came home, then headed out for another two weeks, and this is when this year because the year of the tornados. If you haven’t storm chased, it’s hard to describe the work it takes to pinpoint where the storms will be, then get yourself into a good photographic position for it. I honestly lost track of all the picturesque tornados I saw this in that two weeks. Two days in particular will live rent free in my mind for years, and I honestly don’t know what it would take to unsurp those days as the best storm chases days ever.
These are a handful of the images that are my favorites from May-June 2025.
